The Flood Building at 870 Market Street at Powell Street, opened in 1904 and was designed by the architect Albert Pisces.

When the Flood Building opened in 1904, it was the largest building in San Francisco.


The Flood Building was where the offices for “Continental Ops” were located.  The fictional detective agency Dashiell Hammett's Sam Spade worked for.


For over 100 years, the historic restaurant John’s Grill has occupied part of the first floor.


Woolworths occupied the bottom level for decades.
