Pacific Heights

Home to San Francisco's old money, it was developed in the 1870s, featuring the newly iconic Victorian style of architecture. Those homes became a model for the prevailing aesthetic, which then spread to the rest of the city, soon thereafter became world-famous (and synonymous) with the San Francisco.

It soon became a destination for the city's nouveau-riche. Today well know coupon-clippers like Nancy Pelosi and Larry Ellison have homes there.

It is where Michael Douglas' character lived in the 1997 thriller, The Game.

Ironically the 1990 thriller of the same (starring Melanie Griffith, Matthew Modine, and Michael Keaton) name was actually shot in the Potrero Hill district of San Francisco.

The house featured in the 1993 comedy Mrs. Doubtfire was shot in a house of Broadway.

Sugar magnate, Adolph Spreckels built a grand pink mansion in the eastern side of the neighborhood over a century ago. But it is more famous for being the home of romance novelist, Danielle Steel.
