The museum is ten years old.

It has a good little collection of local authors, including Tenderloin chronicler, Randy Shaw.

They are planning to expand, and triple current size.

They are expanding into an old gym where Muhammad Ali once trained.

The museum chronicles the famous residents who called the TL home like Dashiell Hammett Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, and John Coltrane.  As well as the infamous.

The Museum has a comprehensive display of the Compton Cafeteria Riots of 1966, the fist documented LGBTQ+ uprising, a full three years before Stonewall.  For more details, check out my article, It Happened Here First Folks.
